Rob Naylor, Anheuser-Busch Research Pilot Brewery Area Manager, recently spoke with CNN about his job and responsibilities at the Research Pilot Brewery in St. Louis. To keep innovation at the forefront, Rob’s role allows him to create, brew and taste a variety of new types of beer. When developing new beers, Rob pays close attention to the taste of the beer, and then works with algorithms and the chemistry behind brewing new flavors. Rob experiments with different types of ingredients to create innovative flavors, from adding fruit during the brewing process, to experimenting with different grains. While most of his concoctions aren’t available to the public, Rob’s goal is to combine the learnings from understanding both raw materials and different beer styles, thus creating a new style or flavor of beer that has yet to be produced.
