Demand for Meatless Dishes Grow

According to a recent report released by Technomic, 2019 Center of the Plate: Seafood and Vegetarian Consumer Trend Report, restrictive specialty diets and health concerns more popular among consumers, compared to two years ago. They survey results from 1,700 consumers, indicating more people are choosing semi-vegetarian and flexitarian menu options.

* 45% of those eating more seafood say they’re doing so because they’re trying to eat healthier

* 69% of the top 500 chain restaurants offer at least one entree with seafood

Data from the Good Food Institute also shows a growing trend. Plant-based food and beverage sales in the past year exceeded $3.7 billion in the United States, rising 17% over the prior year. 30% of consumers are actively reducing their meat consumption.
