Great Brewers Cycling Team – promoting Great Bewers and great beer!
You may recall a story from July 5 of this year about a Great Brewers Cycling Team member, Jeff Harrison, who saved the lives of a drowning woman and her daughter who had fallen into the Trinity River in Ft. Worth. It was widely reported in the news that week. Now, Jeff has, after many, many requests, decided to write down his story and post it on the Great Brewers Cycling Team website, here.
I doubt any of the news stories were quite able to capture what Jeff has in his recounting of what happened that day. I was unexpectedly moved by it. Jeff is the Real-Deal and his story is a must read.
But more about the team…
This is a new start-up team for 2010 based in North Texas. Basically, it originated from a group of core riders that were looking for a team, and a guy that wanted to start a team. Both parties appreciated fine beers. These needs, wants, and desires came together and the group was determined to find a way to make it happen. So here we go!
Our Purpose:
Not too complicated. Riding bikes is fun, and as challenging as you want to make it.
• We ride together, and with other teams and friends – regularly.
• We compete in USAC Races and other organized cycling events.
• Tri, Du, or any kind of -athlon is cool too.
• We encourage others to ride or race, and support their goals with enthusiasm.
• We promote our sponsors and partners.
• We wave and smile politely with our motorized friends on the road.
• We have fun together, and encourage this above all else.
