Stone Brewing Company

For the last dozen years Stone Brewing Company has been driven by a bigger-than-life personality. Its beers are big and aggressive. Its marketing has a sharp edge. This is a company that has earned an international reputation for its huge hop bombs while taunting beer drinkers by proclaiming “You’re not worth” right on its own bottles. From the start Stone followed its own path. The result of over a dozen years of big attitude- Stone has garnered a place as one of the fastest growing craft breweries over the last decade as well as gaining a cult-like status among beer fans and homebrewers.

Old Guardian
Bright and clear in appearance. The color of a great single malt, but the lower alcohol of the OG throws the light in different ways than a scotch. Light and citrusy aroma. Almost like a barley wine cured orange peel. The flavor is hoppy as all get out. Young and brash. And to my palate quite delicious! Noticeable alcohol…quite clean. Mouth feel is almost light on the palate (in a barley wine sorta way) that might not suggest the alcohol level.Best With: Primarily thought of as a digestif, it turns out that barley wines have an affinity to lamb, venison and wild boar. Classic cheeses such as English and Vermont cheddars as well as aged Gruyeres from Switzerland. Caramelized desserts as crème brûlée and crepes as well as a good vanilla ice cream can finish a wonderful evening of food and beer.

Pale Ale
Our flagship ale, Stone Pale Ale is our Southern California interpretation of the classic British pale ale style. Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness. This is an ale for those who have learned to appreciate distinctive flavor. Stone Pale Ale is great by itself, or with food that requires a beer of character.Best With: This English Pale Ale pairs nicely with clear broth based soups, salted almonds, game birds and all sorts of seafood. This brew also offers a nice balance to spicier Indian and Cajun foods.

Imperial Russian Stout
Brewed in the authentic historical style of an Imperial Russian Stout, this beer is massive. Intensely aromatic (notes of anise, black currants, coffee, roastiness and alcohol) and heavy on the palate, this brew goes where few can – and fewer dare even try. The style originated from Czarist Russia’s demand for ever thicker English stouts. Expect our version of this mysterious brew to pour like Siberian crude and taste even heavier!Best With: Hot molten chocolate mud cake is the ideal pairing for this beer, however it works beautifully on its own as a digestif.

Ruination
A liquid poem to the glory of the hop.Best With: This IPA’s generous hop character makes it an ideal pairing with spicy foods such as barbecue, dry-rubbed ribs, or ethnic cuisine such as curry based Indian food, wasabi based Japanese dishes, or spicy Thai entrees.

Arrogant Bastard Ale
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory – maybe something with a multi-million dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it’s made in a little brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless fizzy yellow beer with give you more sex appeal. Perhaps you think multi-million dollar campaigns make a beer taste better. Perhaps your mouthing your words as you read this. ABV: 7.2%www.arrogantbastard.com

Stone IPA

An “India Pale Ale” by definition is highly hopped and high in alcohol – you’ll find our Stone India Pale Ale to be true in style with a huge hop aroma, flavor and bitterness throughout. If you’re a hop-head like us, then you’ll love our Stone India Pale Ale! Medium malt character with a heavy dose of over the top hops! Generous “dry hopping” gives this beer its abundant hop aroma and crisp hop flavor. ABV: 6.9%
Oaked Arrogant Bastard
To celebrate the first anniversary of Arrogant Bastard Ale in 1998, we unleashed it’s big angry brother, Double Bastard Ale. Every November since then, the Double Bastard has been released in limited quantities. In 2004 Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale got a third cohort when we released OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale in 3 Litre bottles. 2006 marked the third year of OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale, and a surprise – we crammed, forced, shoved and cajoled the OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale into itty bitty tiny little 12oz bottles. It did not go willingly. Some Stone peeps got hurt. More emotionally, than physically, but it was definitely both. Well, here we are on our fourth year and we’ve got one more surprise… You’ll be able to get OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale in sixpacks year ‘round starting on August 20th, 2007!
Smoked Porter
Stone Smoked Porter is dark, rich and complicated. A porter is substantially darker than a pale ale, but not as black or opaque as a stout. Our Smoked porter has a captivatingly deep mahogany color, complimented by silky dark tan head. Rich, full bodied and robust. Smooth, with chocolate and coffee-like flavors balanced by the subtle “smoky” character of just the right amount of peat-smoked specialty malt.
Best With: This hearty porter is a great accompaniment to a wide array of Mexican dishes, burgers, steaks, sausages, ham, smoky flavors and chocolate desserts.
ABV: 5.9%
