Australia's Barons Beer Makes it to Texas

Date: October 23, 2007

Ben E. Keith Beverage Distributors will begin distributing Barons Black Wattle Seed Ale and Barons Superior Lager to restaurants, bars, and convenience, liquor and grocery stores in the Dallas, Fort Worth and Denton areas beginning in November 2007.
The award-winning Barons Brewing Co. of Australia’s brands are the only Australian imported craft beers available in Texas or the United States, and are also further indication of Ben E. Keith’s new push into the high-end specialty and imported beer category. Other recently-launched imports include the traditional European pilsner Trumer Pils and the smooth premium lager Tona Cerveza.

Both Barons Black Wattle Seed Ale and Barons Superior Lager are high-end premium quality craft imports with a strong Australian heritage, using the finest genuine ingredients from Australia, including the first use of native wattle seed. With its coffee-like flavor, wattle seed is an indigenous staple in Australian muffins and ice cream and is a key ingredient in Barons Black Wattle Seed Ale. The beer’s character is born from a selected blend of roasted barley and wheat, with a subtle hopping and the unique infusion of the wattle seed. It has an aroma of roasted nuts and chocolate, with a flavor of complex malt, hazelnut, toffee, caramel and dark chocolate. The resulting beer is rich amber brown in color, has a lasting creamy head and an alcohol content of 5.8%.

Barons Superior Lager is a crisp, well-balanced refreshing lager made in the style of a light German pilsner. It has an aroma of earthy floral hops and sweet malt, with a balanced flavor of malt and hop with light bitterness and a clean crisp finish. It is brilliant rich golden in color, has a pure white head and an alcohol content of 4.9%.
